The Progressive Care (Step down) Registered Nurse (RN) position is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients by utilizing strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status. This role acts as the service line between Med-Surg and ICU units, determining the priority of the patient’s problems and needs, and developing and performing patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes. The RN ensures a safe and therapeutic environment. This is a diverse intermediate unit, seeing an array of patients, mostly cardiac and respiratory illness. Patients include those recovering from cardiac caths and preparing for open heart surgery. The unit does not care for patients requiring trachs or ventilators. Nurse to patient ratios are 1:4 during the day and 1:5 at night, with potential increases if needed. The role involves managing cardiac drips, high flow O2 (bipap, avaps, airvo), and accessing temporary dialysis lines. New Graduate RNs are welcome to apply.
