Registered Nurse (RN) Intermediate Care/Step Down Unit
About The Position
Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Intermediate Care/Step Down Unit-3 East. This is a full-time, night shift position (7p - 7a). The unit has a supportive team environment with a nurse-patient ratio, a unit-based nurse educator, team coordinator, and manager. The unit is involved in the hospital's Magnet redesignation journey. New graduate RNs receive a 10 to 12-week clinical preceptorship and enrollment in the Transition to Practice Program. The patient population may include sepsis, hemorrhage, stroke, cardiac, trauma, post-op, substance withdrawal, and diabetic ketoacidosis. This role is ideal for those seeking a fast-paced, team-based care environment.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
- Registered nursing License (Required)
- Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License.
- BLS required within 90 days of hire
- None required (for experience)
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
- Students in the process of completing an accredited nursing program.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in the Intermediate Care/Step Down Unit.
- Manage a patient population that may include sepsis, hemorrhage, stroke, cardiac, trauma, post-op, substance withdrawal, and diabetic ketoacidosis.
- Participate in a supportive team environment.
- Engage in the hospital's Magnet redesignation journey.
- Receive and participate in clinical preceptorship and Transition to Practice Program (for new grads).
