About The Position

The RN provides skilled professional nursing care to the patient/family/caregiver as prescribed by the physician and in compliance with regulations as established by the State Board of Registered Nursing, the patient, and the policies of Bluegrass Care Navigators. This position reports to the Executive Director and/or Clinical Nursing Officer.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional (registered) nursing.
• Currently licensed as an RN through the State Board of Nursing.
• Possesses and maintains current CPR certification.
• Has satisfactory references from nursing school, previous (or current) employers and/or professional peers.
• Has excellent observation, good nursing judgment, and communication skills.
• Ability to provide good written documentation in a timely manner.
• Is self-directed with the ability to work with little supervision.
• Is flexible and cooperative in fulfilling role obligations.
• Complies with accepted professional standards and principles.
• Employees will be expected to comply with Bluegrass Care Navigators Employee Health, infectious disease, and vaccination policies.

Nice To Haves

• At least one-year general nursing experience is preferred.
• Current hospice, home health, medical, surgical or critical care experience.
• Experience with providing good pain management, IV skills preferred.
• New nursing graduates will be considered along with other life experiences and interest in working in hospice field.

Responsibilities

• Provides skilled professional nursing care to patients, families, and caregivers.
• Ensures compliance with physician's orders, State Board of Registered Nursing regulations, and Bluegrass Care Navigators' policies.
• Demonstrates understanding of hospice philosophy and principles of death and dying.
• Provides good pain management and IV skills.
• Copes with family emotional stress and is tolerant of individual lifestyles.
• Maintains current CPR certification.
• Provides good written documentation in a timely manner.
• Works effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
