About The Position

Frontier Behavioral Health (FBH) is a non-profit organization with over 100 years of experience in Spokane, dedicated to understanding and addressing the behavioral health needs of the community. FBH provides evidence-based treatment to adults, youth, and seniors, operating as a Trauma-Informed Care Organization that believes in recovery and empowering clients to lead fulfilling lives. This position involves providing direct treatment services in an inpatient setting to adults with serious or chronic mental health disorders. Responsibilities include taking vital signs, administering medications, conducting nursing assessments, documenting patient responses, and managing admissions, discharges, and patient transfers.

Requirements

  • Active RN license in the State of Washington at the time of hire.
  • Active BLS within 90 days of hire and must maintain active BLS.
  • Basic computer skills including ability to document in an electronic medical record, use electronic time tracking, use of Outlook, Word and HRIS.
  • Ability to communicate with individuals of various backgrounds, education levels and socio-economic status.
  • Ability to apply trauma-informed concepts and practices related to patient care.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years' experience in Psychiatric setting.
  • Previous inpatient experience.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and monitor patient basic care utilizing the nursing process within the RN scope of practice.
  • Medication administration/safety/monitoring.
  • Carry out physicians’ orders as assigned.
  • Demonstrate positive leadership and goal-oriented productivity within scope of practice.
  • Carry out care plan objectives and goals.
  • Assist in delivery of client education.
  • Maintain standards of professional nursing practice in accordance with facility policies and procedures.
  • Comply with all state WACs.
  • Facilitate therapeutic communication with patients, visitors, and co-workers.
  • Complete thorough, timely incident reports as needed.
  • Respond to patient needs and concerns and escalate through supervisory chain as indicated.
  • Complete thorough, accurate and complete reporting and documentation of patient’s symptoms, and progress.
  • Effectively utilize customer service and motivational interviewing skills to promote appropriate patient centered care.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in responding to change and in working with diverse groups and individuals.
  • Other duties as assigned.
