About The Position

The Infusion Registered Nurse delivers nursing care to patients by assessing their status, implementing clinical interventions, developing and carrying out care plans, and maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment. The role requires organizational and leadership skills and a diverse medical skillset. The nurse provides care to patients across the lifespan and supports their physiologic, psychologic, and psychosocial stability. The position is in the Mercy Cancer Center – Perrysburg department. Scheduled hours are 36 per week, on days/afternoons.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited associate or bachelor's degree program in Nursing.
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• BLS Basic Life Support certification is required before direct patient care; ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support is acceptable in lieu of BLS.
• ONS Oncology Nursing Society Chemotherapy Certification is required within six months of hire.

Nice To Haves

• One year of medical/surgical or oncology experience (preferred, not required).
• EPIC Electronic Health Record training (preferred, not required).
• BLS certification is preferred upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and analyze initial and ongoing patient assessments; create plans of care, implement treatments, and evaluate their effectiveness.
• Provide care that restores, supports, promotes, rehabilitates, or palliates patients to maintain physiologic, psychologic, and psychosocial stability across the lifespan.
• Administer chemotherapy and other medication; start IVs; transfuse blood and blood products; and perform therapeutic phlebotomies.
• Anticipate and respond confidently to changing patient conditions, adapting to rapid changes as needed.
• Help create an environment that promotes educational growth opportunities for nursing peers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
