Requirements

  • Current state RN license
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited nursing school
  • Infection Control certification required within 2 years of hire/transfer
  • Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire
  • ACLS and PALS are required within six of hire

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience preferred
  • ASLS certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of infection control processes within a healthcare setting
  • Monitor and trend healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) using risk-stratified data
  • Develop and implement systems to identify, investigate, report, and prevent HAIs
  • Review microbiology reports, including cultures and sensitivities, to determine infection origin
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to identify potential infection risks and occurrences
  • Investigate infection trends, including outbreaks or cases above established thresholds
  • Assist in providing education and in-service training related to infection prevention and control
  • Support development and continuous improvement of infection control policies and procedures
  • Review and update departmental policies related to infection control as needed
  • Communicate infection control findings and initiatives to leadership and committees
  • Perform other duties as assigned
