About The Position

As a Registered Nurse (RN), House Supervisor, you will oversee nursing and hospital operations during assigned shifts to ensure quality general and psychiatric patient care. This role involves supervising staffing and scheduling, providing direct nursing care, and supporting department managers with education, discipline, and compliance. You will manage scheduling and staffing for the nursing department, ensuring coverage, minimizing overtime and agency use, and approving or denying time-off requests. You will also monitor staff attendance, maintain records of tardiness and absences, and assist the Director of Nursing with payroll. The position requires providing backup nursing and intake assistance, responding to patient needs, and advocating for patients. You will supervise hospital operations when administration is not present, oversee staff performance, and provide coaching and education as needed. Conducting staff evaluations and delivering disciplinary actions professionally and promptly are key responsibilities. You will also assist the Director of Nursing in conducting department meetings, documenting attendance, and preparing meeting minutes. Support to the intake department is required as necessary. Maintaining knowledge of regulatory standards (TJC, Medicaid, state and federal laws) and ensuring compliance is crucial. Performing conflict resolution and mediation with staff, involving appropriate leadership when necessary, and conducting thorough investigations, collecting and documenting accurate information, and providing reports to appropriate parties are also part of the role. You will demonstrate comprehensive nursing skills including assessments, treatment planning, admission and discharge procedures, medication administration, and delivery of direct patient care as needed. Ensuring documentation is timely, accurate, and complete and delivering quality nursing care to achieve treatment plan goals are essential.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in nursing required
  • Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license required
  • CPR and de‑escalation certification required within 30 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a psychiatric health‑care facility with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric, or geriatric patients preferred
  • Experience in patient assessment, family motivation, treatment planning, and communication with external review organizations
