Requirements

  • Education: Graduate of Nursing Program (Associates or Diploma Program)
  • Licensure: Arizona RN License or compact state RN license
  • Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card, required within 20 days of hire
  • AZ Driver's License
  • AZ Food Handlers Card
  • Certification: Arizona Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification
  • Age Requirement: Must be 21 yoa or older
  • Experience: One (1) or more years of experience in acute care nursing or hospice
  • Able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously, possess good oral and written communication skills, care for patients in hospice inpatient setting, and in home setting as needed
  • Able to assist with the movement of an adult patient to 300 lbs, able to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach, while working with patients for the entire shift
  • Expected duties have routine potential for exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues
  • May requires travel, in properly insured vehicle, throughout our service area.

Responsibilities

  • Hospice RNs coordinate the implementation of a Hospice Plan of Care for each assigned patient.
  • Works under the direction of the physician and the Arizona State Nurse Practice Act to provide nursing care to patients in compliance with nursing standards and regulations.
  • Utilizes the nursing process to make continuing assessments of the patient’s total health needs; implements nursing interventions based on assessment data; develops and implements the nursing plan of care and evaluates the patient’s response.
  • Nurses educate patients and families about the disease process; help manage and control pain and other symptoms and offer solace to those in distress.
  • Hospice RNs are a part of an interdisciplinary inpatient hospice team that supports patients and their families at a critical juncture in their lives.
