About The Position

The Heart Transplant & VAD Coordinator works under the general supervision of the Senior Director, Inpatient Nursing and is responsible for coordinating and providing multidisciplinary inpatient and outpatient services to transplant and Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) patients and families. The incumbent provides overall coordination for the multidisciplinary team involved in transplantation and VAD services. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing
  • Clinical experience or direct patient care. 3-5 years
  • Registered Nurse Tennessee - Tennessee Board of Nursing
  • Ability to handle and administer narcotics as needed.
  • Ability to read and write to communicate orally and in writing with other individuals.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates all phases of VAD implantation and heart transplantation
  • Provides overall coordination for the multidisciplinary team involved in VAD implantation and heart transplantation.
  • Assures appropriate care during and after VAD implantation and heart transplantation.
  • Implements and directs programs directly related to VADs and Heart Transplant.
  • Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for self-development, clinical competency, and knowledge of new departments, treatments, and procedures.
