The Registered Nurse (RN) in the GI Lab will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care. This role involves engaging patients and families throughout their care continuum, monitoring patient conditions, adjusting care plans, mobilizing resources, and collaborating with the care team to influence care outcomes. The RN will uphold and promote a culture of safety, continuously evaluating patient, team, and unit outcomes. Responsibilities include administering medications, treatments, and therapies safely, demonstrating effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution, and fostering team collaboration. The position also requires pursuing professional development, completing required education, and maintaining certifications. Adherence to the ANA Code of Ethics and ethical decision-making is essential, as is respecting interdisciplinary roles and contributing to integrated, unbiased patient care. Appropriate delegation to other nursing staff and accurate, timely EHR documentation are also key. The RN may be required to float to other units or facilities to meet patient care needs and must demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate to the age of the patients served, including understanding growth and development principles.
