About The Position

Inova Cornwall Campus Freestanding Emergency Department is seeking an experienced ED Nurse. This is a Full-Time position with Day and/or Mid shifts, consisting of 3-12-Hour Shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM; 11a-11p; 1p-1a) with rotating weekends. This role is eligible for a sign-on bonus and relocation assistance. The Inova Cornwall ED provides a fun and autonomous work environment, serving 35-50 patients a day with approximately 20% pediatric patients. The nurse to patient ratio is 3-4:1. The nursing staff is ventilator and ABG trained, and there is a supportive team environment with opportunities for advancement. The department is an Acute Stroke Ready ED with patient satisfaction scores in the 99th percentile and a 12.5% admission rate. Flexible self-scheduling is available for the team nursing model.

Requirements

  • 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse in a critical care setting or completion of a critical care fellowship.
  • BSN or AD. If RN has an AD, within 2 years from date of hire, they must meet with their nurse leader and conduct the following: 1.) Identify which accredited school they plan to attend 2.) Provide a written plan with anticipated BSN completion date 3.) Submit a review of transcripts from the school indicating the required pre-requisites and timeline for taking the courses 4.) Complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state Registered Nurse license.
  • BLS from the American Heart Association.
  • For Critical Care units, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support within 6 months of hire.
  • For Pediatric units, Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 6 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) plus years Emergency Department (ED) as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to display a caring demeanor toward others.
  • Proficient computer skills required.
