About The Position

Texas Health Southwest is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for their Float Pool. This PRN position is for the Day Shift and involves rotating weekends, working 1-2 shifts per week. The Central Staffing department serves as the float pool for this 222-bed facility, which is a MAGNET facility, Level III Trauma Center, and Primary Stroke Center. The role offers self-scheduling for work/life balance and the opportunity to work on various units including PCU, Med Surg, and ED Holds. There are excellent opportunities for educational and career growth, including leadership advancement.

Requirements

• Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred
• Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
• CLIAFE – Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency
• BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
• ACLS – within 90 days of hire required
• CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
• NIHSS - required for ICU/PCU Neighborhood 6 Months Req
• 1-year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required

Responsibilities

• Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process: assesses the patient, plans the care of the patient, intervenes as appropriate, evaluates the effectiveness of intervention.
• Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
• Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information.
• Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
