About The Position

Glens Falls Hospital is seeking skilled and adaptable Float Pool RNs to support patient care across multiple departments, including Medical/Surgical (Med/Surg), Behavioral Health Unit (BHU), Emergency Department (ED) (based on experience and competency), and ICU (based on experience and competency). This is a dynamic role ideal for nurses who thrive in varied settings and enjoy the challenge of caring for diverse patient populations. You'll be responsible for providing direct patient care based on department-specific standards and floating between units to meet organizational and patient care needs. You will also be involved with managing admission and discharge processes efficiently and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for continuity of care. Requirements

  • Graduation from a Registered Professional Nursing Program.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of New York.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Maintains competency in professional nursing practices
  • Knowledge of standard health care reporting measures required
  • Ability to recognize patient care problems and to react appropriately in patient care emergencies

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred; new hires will be required to complete their BSN within 5 years of hire (RNs with 20+ years of experience may be eligible to opt for certification completion rather than BSN).

Responsibilities

  • Providing direct patient care based on department-specific standards.
  • Floating between units to meet organizational and patient care needs.
  • Managing admission and discharge processes efficiently.
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams for continuity of care.
  • Management and delivery of patient care to assigned patients in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, and within the scope of practice delineated in the New York State Nurse Practice Act.
  • Delegating/assigning responsibility as appropriate to others.
  • Serving as leader of the interdisciplinary team in collaboration with and under the direction of the attending physician.
  • Identifying desired outcomes for each patient based on assessment data.
  • Planning of care and completing ongoing assessments to facilitate achievement of desired outcomes.
