About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) Float Pool position at Texas Health Southwest is a part-time role on the day shift. This role is part of the Central Staffing department for a 222-bed facility that is a MAGNET facility, Level III Trauma Center, and Primary Stroke center. The position offers self-scheduling for work/life balance and the opportunity to work on a variety of units including PCU, Med Surg, and ED Holds. There are excellent opportunities for educational and career growth, including advancement in leadership. Texas Health Southwest and Texas Health Clearfork operate as one hospital across two locations, serving the southwest Fort Worth area. The 261-bed hospital provides access to care across Tarrant County with specialties in surgical services, orthopedics, rehabilitation, imaging, and adult critical care. It also features a 24-hour emergency department and is certified as a Primary Heart Attack Center, Primary Stroke Center, Level III Trauma Center, Level III Maternal Center, Level III Neonatal Center, and nationally accredited for Breast care and Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement. Requirements

  • Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing Required
  • 1-year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program Required
  • RN – Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required
  • BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support - prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required
  • ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support - within 90 days of hire Required
  • CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire Required
  • PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support – required for ED Neighborhood within 90 days of hire Required
  • NIHSS - required for ICU/PCU Neighborhood 6 Months Required

Nice To Haves

  • BSN Preferred
  • Medical-Surgical Telemetry experience Preferred
  • Intermediate Care experience Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process: assesses the patient, plans the care of the patient, intervenes as appropriate, evaluates the effectiveness of intervention.
  • Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
  • Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information.
  • Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
