Registered Nurse (RN) Transition to NICU
About The Position
Inova Fairfax Hospital is seeking an RN Fellow, an experienced nurse new to the NICU specialty, to join the NICU. This fellowship program is designed to develop the necessary clinical skills to practice nursing competently within the NICU specialty. The RN Fellow will learn under the direct supervision of an experienced RN and through various other training formats, participating in learning new knowledge, developing new skills, and meeting program objectives to practice in the assigned patient care delivery setting. The Inova L.J. Murphy Children’s Hospital is home to the largest, most comprehensive subspecialty neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) in the region, a 108-bed, Level IV NICU that cares for high-risk infants requiring specialized care and observation. The NICU is also the first in the nation to receive The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™ for Prematurity.
Requirements
- A minimum of 1 year of Registered Nurse clinical experience.
- BSN from an accredited school of nursing. Applicants with an Associate’s Degree (ADN) must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
- American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider certification required.
- RN licensed, or eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia as an RN.
- Proficient in English, strong verbal and written communication skills.
Nice To Haves
- One year minimum of current inpatient RN experience.
Responsibilities
- Develop necessary clinical skills to practice nursing in a competent manner within the NICU specialty.
- Learn under the direct supervision of an experienced RN and through various other training formats.
- Participate in learning new knowledge, developing new skills, and meeting program objectives.
- Apply new knowledge in the assigned patient care delivery setting.
- Orient to both day and night shifts.
