About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) Facility Nurse Educator - Med Surg is a full-time position responsible for assessing, developing, and conducting orientation and continuing education programs for the nursing team. This role collaborates with nursing leadership to identify needs, designs programs to enhance nursing practice, and ensures compliance with licensure and certification requirements. The educator also coordinates student placements, orientations, and preceptorships, utilizing adult education principles in planning and implementing educational activities. They will assess learning needs through observation, formal assessments, and program evaluations.

Requirements

  • Current applicable state RN licensure required.
  • BSN required.
  • 3 years clinical experience in a related area (OR, ER, acute care) required.
  • BLS required per policy guidelines.

Nice To Haves

  • Specialty certification may be preferred or required for specific area (e.g., Med Ctr Air Flight Nurse Educator).

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with nursing leadership to assess needs for orientation and continuing education for the nursing team.
  • Develops and conducts facility-specific orientation for licensed and non-licensed nursing staff.
  • Facilitates 30-day new employee orientation and 90-day reunion sessions.
  • Designs programs to enhance nursing practice and assist learners in complying with licensure and certification requirements.
  • Coordinates with Nurse Managers to place, orient, and organize preceptorships for undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Utilizes adult education principles to plan, design, and implement educational activities based on identified learning needs.
  • Assesses learning needs through direct observation, formal needs assessment, and program evaluation or other organizational activity reports.
