Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program.
  • Requires a minimum of 2 years emergency room experience.
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS (current upon hire)
  • TNCC (within 6 months of hire)
  • Current Florida nursing license.
  • Must successfully pass any pre-employment assessment(s) required by the facility.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • One to three years supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assumes shift responsibility and accountability for the planning and provision of direct and indirect nursing care to the patient, family, care partner and appropriate others.
  • Coordinates multi-disciplinary team members, directs and facilitates nursing staff in obtaining safe, optimal health care outcomes.
  • Supports activities that meet the facility vision, mission and goals.
  • Provides professional leadership and support to the healthcare team.
  • The concepts of Patient Centered Care will provide the foundation for all nursing care.
  • Demonstrates Service Excellence standards at all times.
  • Recognizes the signs and symptoms of stroke and calling a stroke alert overhead.
  • Verbalizes stroke alert process.
  • Performs all roles and responsibilities of the ED nurse and responds to Inpatient Stroke Alerts.
  • Assists the ED physician with patient evaluation.
  • Assists the ICU nurse with initiation of thrombolytic therapy (mixing, administration and monitoring) and preparation of patient for Endovascular treatment as indicated.
  • Performs NIHSS and bedside swallow, assists with telemedicine consult and physician examination/evaluation of thrombolytic therapy inclusion/exclusion criteria, mixing and administration of thrombolytic therapy if patient deemed a candidate, preparation of patient for Endovascular treatment as indicated, assumes patient care while in the Emergency Department.
  • Maintains currency in stroke knowledge by completing the NIHSS training and a minimum of 8 hours of stroke related training annually.
