About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in Endoscopy/Pain Management is responsible for delivering safe patient care throughout the patient's endoscopic experience, including pre-procedure, during the procedure, and post-procedure phases. Additionally, the RN provides direct patient care in the procedure room for pain injections such as Epidural Steroid Injections (ESI), Blocks, and Radiofrequency Ablations (RF). This role operates within the framework of the nursing process and adheres to established standards and regulations.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Current Registered Nurse License.
Current American Heart Assn. BLS certification.
Current American Heart Assn. ACLS certification.

Responsibilities

Delivery of safe patient care in the pre-Endoscopy, Endoscopy, and post-Endoscopy periods.
Delivery of safe patient care in the procedure room for pain injections (ESI, Blocks, RF).
Consult with physician and other health care team members in planning care and establishing desired outcomes.
Ensure required equipment and supplies are available.
Involve peers and other team members in planning and revising care.
Base nursing care on specific nursing diagnoses and nursing orders.
Give safe and efficient nursing care to the patient.
Ensure that waiting significant others receive periodic status/progress reports per physician input.
Practice and assist others in maintaining universal precautions and electrical and environmental safety.
Practice within federal, state and nurse practice guidelines and regulations.
Recognize changes in patient status and report pertinent information.
Conserve materials and equipment through appropriate use.
Prepare and label all specimens according to hospital policy and procedure; document appropriately.
Give pertinent, concise, precise information to relief staff.
Direct and delegate activity of team members appropriately in emergency situations.
Measure patient responses to medical and nursing interventions based on expected outcomes.
Ensure that equipment and supplies are returned to their proper location after use.
Identify and prioritize individual patient care needs according to age, physiological, psychosocial, cultural and physical status.
Plan care based on contemplated procedure, standards of practice, admission assessment and MD preference.
Document in a clear, concise, accurate, legible manner.
Document all necessary information related to patient’s progress and outcomes in interventions.
Ensure completion of resuscitation record following Code Blue procedures.
Assess physiological and psychosocial health status of patient.
Identify chief complaint.
Assess pain per policy.
Assess patient medical history.
Demonstrate competency in patient identification verification per policy.
Demonstrate competency in pre-procedure phone calls.
