Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to work in the Emergency Department at Vancouver General Hospital in Vancouver, BC. This role involves practicing within a patient and family-centered care model, adhering to the standards of the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). The RN will provide emergency nursing care to patients of all ages with diverse symptoms in a dynamic environment, including specialized care for victims of sexual assault. Responsibilities include triaging patients, assessing needs, prioritizing care, stabilizing and resuscitating multi-trauma victims as part of the emergency response team, and preparing for disaster situations. The role also involves enhancing patient/family quality of life, collaborating with other healthcare providers, demonstrating leadership, maintaining clinical competence, and participating in hospital committees and research projects. The Vancouver General Hospital Emergency Department is a Level 1 Trauma Centre that sees over 93,000 patients annually. It offers 24/7 care for trauma, interventional cardiology, stroke, and other specialty areas. With over 70 patient care spaces divided into acute care, trauma, mental health, and lower-acuity zones, it provides a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
