About The Position

This position coordinates total nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching, acts as a patient advocate and works as part of a team with ancillary and non-nursing departments. The role involves assessing patient conditions, setting goals for nursing interventions, developing and revising care plans, and evaluating patient care outcomes. The nurse will administer medications, treatments, and therapies, communicate effectively with patients, and provide education to patients and their families. Accurate documentation of all care provided is essential. Additionally, the role includes maintaining facility equipment and supplies, assisting with new employee orientation, coordinating department operations, and participating in performance improvement activities.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing required
  • 1 year or less of experience
  • Current RN license in state of practice
  • Ability to understand, communicate, and react effectively to patient and family needs.
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure while keeping calm and maintaining customer focus
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Repetitive motion of upper body required for extended use of computer.
  • Required specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred
  • BCLS upon completion of hospital orientation
  • ACLS and PALS within six months of hire or transfer date to position.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses the patient’s condition and nursing care needs.
  • Sets goals and prescribes appropriate nursing interventions to meet physical, psychological, social and rehabilitative needs of patients.
  • Develops individual nursing care plans.
  • Implements care plans and makes revisions as needed.
  • Evaluates patient care outcomes.
  • Collaborates with physicians and other hospital employees.
  • Administers medications, treatments and therapies.
  • Communicates with patients and oversees provision of care.
  • Provides patients and/or family with instruction and education relevant to condition.
  • Accurately documents nursing observations, assessments, medications, treatments, and other care given.
  • Maintains facility equipment, supplies and work areas.
  • Assists in the orientation of new employees.
  • Coordinates and supervises activities of employees and department operations.
  • Participates in performance/process improvement activities.
