About The Position

Join the dedicated nursing team at Sentara Obici Hospital, a 175-bed, full-service community hospital in Suffolk, Virginia, known for compassionate, high-quality care and strong teamwork. This role offers an opportunity to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in the Emergency Department (ED) in a supportive environment that values teamwork and professional growth. Nurses at Sentara Obici Hospital serve a diverse and welcoming community, enjoying the charm of a historic city with parks, local shops, and easy access to the coast. The Emergency Department at Sentara Obici Hospital is a fast-paced, exciting environment with 37 beds, including a dedicated 5-bed Behavioral Health Safe Suite. The department treats over 53,000 visits annually (approximately 150 per day). The skilled team of emergency nurses, physicians, and techs cares for patients ranging from minor injuries to life-threatening emergencies, utilizing advanced technology and rapid response protocols. ED nurses are highly collaborative, quick-thinking, and supported by leadership that values innovation, safety, and professional growth, making it an excellent place to build and refine critical assessment and triage skills.

Requirements

  • Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire
  • ACLS and PALS or ENPC within one (1) year of hire
  • Minimum of 6 months of Registered Nurse (RN) experience in an acute care setting such as Emergency Room, Intensive Care Unit, Intermediate Care Unit, Recovery Room (May consider acute care experience in other type units)
  • Unable to consider new grad RNs currently

Nice To Haves

  • BSN or MSN preferred
