Under general supervision and in accordance with the policies, procedures and guidelines established within the organization, the unit, and the Michigan Public Health Code, the registered nurse manages the care delivery for patients in the organization throughout the length of stay to achieve quality outcomes and timely discharge. This involves utilizing the nursing process, coordinating care, delegating tasks, providing direct patient care, and documenting patient responses and needs. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served. The role requires adherence to specific certifications and scales within defined timeframes, such as SALT triage, ESI Triage, NIH Stroke Scale, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Trauma Nursing Core Course for certain roles. A current driver's license and proof of insurance are also required. The position involves analyzing data from computer systems, communicating verbally, in writing, and electronically, and performing work that may cause high levels of mental/visual fatigue. It also involves regularly lifting moderately heavy weights and occasionally assisting with heavier tasks.
