Under general supervision and in accordance with the policies, procedures and guidelines established within the organization, the unit, and the Michigan Public Health Code, the registered nurse manages the care delivery for patients in the organization throughout the length of stay to achieve quality outcomes and timely discharge. This involves utilizing the nursing process, coordinating care, delegating tasks, providing direct patient care, and documenting patient responses and needs. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served. The role requires the ability to read, interpret, and analyze data from various computer systems and equipment, and to communicate verbally, in writing, and electronically. The work involves high levels of mental/visual fatigue, sustained concentration, and regularly lifting up to 50 pounds, with occasional assistance for heavier tasks.
