About The Position

The Electrophysiology labs are invasive procedural units that provide diagnostic and interventional services. There are 4 labs; 3 with x-ray capabilities and 1 lab for ancillary EP procedures. Procedures in the EP Lab include pacemaker, automatic defibrillator and left atrial occlusion implants, ablations for atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia's, ventricular tachycardia's and atrial flutter. The physicians in the EP lab strive to be on the cutting edge of technology and have a very robust research team. We've been one of the first facilities to perform MICRA's and Electro pulse radiation therapy, and we participate in many studies including: Frozen AF, Champion (watchman). We use various mapping modalities including biosense webter, abbott precision, and boston scientific rhythmia. The patient populations served range from outpatient to critical care, with treatment for both acute conditions and chronic conditions. The lab primarily serves the adult population, but also has a growing pediatric congenital population. The academic environment provides ample opportunity for learning and skill growth, with regular in-services and lectures to advance the team’s understanding of our patients, our equipment, new technology, and new protocols.

Requirements

Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible or compact state
Current RN licensure in Virginia, AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent
N/A (for Clinical Nurse I)
12 to 24 months RN experience (for Clinical Nurse II)
3 years of clinical experience (for Clinical Nurse III)
Diploma or Associates Degree from a professional nursing program recognized and/or approved by the corresponding state’s Board of Nursing.
All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an approved RN to BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within five years of their start date unless grandfathered under previous requirements.
Follows documented physician/licensed independent provider orders.
Practices within the boundaries of the regulations governing the practice of nursing in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Practice is guided by the ANA Code of Ethics for Nursing and established national nursing practice standards.
All practice is guided by and follows the VCUHS policies and procedures and established practice.

Nice To Haves

Experience as an LPN, nursing assistant or care partner in either an acute care setting or as applicable to area of practice (for Clinical Nurse I)
Academic Health Care Experience; Experience with similar patient population in either an acute care setting or as applicable to area of practice (for Clinical Nurse II, Clin III)
Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (or higher) from an accredited program (for Clinical Nurse I, II, III)
Certification in specialty area (for Clinical Nurse III)
