This is a professional nursing role practicing in a multi-faceted domain of specialty nursing that focuses on the healthcare of individuals, families, groups, communities, and entire populations. Care is provided in primary and specialty care outpatient facilities, non-acute community outpatient settings, during telehealth nursing encounters in medical offices, or by individual nurses in the home or business. The nurse has authority, accountability, and responsibility for nursing practice, making decisions and taking actions consistent with the obligation to promote health and provide optimal care, recognizing that health is a universal right. The nurse interacts with patients in concert with other health professionals, skillfully using the nursing process to assess primary concerns, identify problems, analyze and integrate subjective and objective data, decide on a plan of action, apply appropriate interventions, and evaluate outcomes.
