About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) in the ED Float Pool at St. Francis Medical Center, working 36 hours per week on evenings/nights from 3:00pm-3:00am. The role involves floating between the Chester Freestanding Emergency Department, St. Francis Medical Center, and Westchester Freestanding Emergency Department. The RN Clinical Float Pool assesses, analyzes, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care according to established standards. A key function is to be available and flexible to float to various departments and sites within the organization to provide patient care, which may include same-day staffing, multiple assignment locations within a shift, travel assignments, or seasonal staffing. The role involves participating as a member of the healthcare team under the direction of a clinical manager, adhering to the Standards and Scope of Practice for the Registered Nurse.

Requirements

  • Current nursing license in the designated state of employment
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Various
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS – AHA) - American Heart Association required based on specialty assignment
  • 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse in acute care
  • Medical equipment knowledge

Responsibilities

  • Assess, analyze, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care following established patient care standards.
  • Be available and flexible to float to various departments and sites throughout the markets within the organization to provide patient care.
  • Provide patient care which could include scheduling day of staffing, more than one assignment location within a single shift, travel assignments, or seasonal staffing patterns.
  • Participate as a member of the health care team in cooperation with and under the direction of a clinical manager or designee.
  • Demonstrate awareness of and support organization, departmental, and operating unit goals through participation in continuous quality improvement and departmental activities.
  • Act as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department.
  • Incorporate the professional practice model into care delivery.
  • Plan and coordinate nursing care and clinical decisions using the best available evidence.
  • Formulate and implement a plan of care for each patient, including interventions, evaluation of response to interventions, and documentation as appropriate to condition and age.
  • Float based on hiring tier (Tier 1: within a single site; Tier 2: multiple sites within a single market; Tier 3: multiple sites across more than one market), based on competency.
