Requirements

  • A strategic RN leader with extensive experience directing Surgical Services operations and advancing perioperative excellence.
  • Demonstrated success in leading complex surgical departments, managing resources, and aligning clinical practice with quality, safety, and financial performance goals while fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and patient-centered care.
  • A current state RN license.
  • Possess a bachelor’s degree.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
  • ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience preferred.
  • ASLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
  • Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
  • Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
  • Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits in conjunction with Quality Leader.
  • Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth and development.
  • Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.
  • Regular and reliable attendance for all scheduled meetings and calls.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including (but not limited to) Assuming roles in the OR as an OR circulator, assuming roles in PACU as PACU RN, or assisting in areas under the purview of this role.
  • Position serves both internal co-workers and external customers, clients, patients, contractors, and vendors.
  • Access to and/or works with sensitive and/or confidential information.
  • Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of healthcare regulatory and compliance (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Skilled in the application and management of policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Business Office Standards and Recommended Practices.
  • Manage the work of others, including planning, assigning, scheduling and reviewing work to ensure quality standards.
  • Responsible for hiring, terminating, training, reviewing performance and administering corrective action for staff.
  • Assumes responsibility of quality surgical metrics and identifies areas of opportunity for improvement.
