About The Position

This role involves providing effective direct care as part of an interdisciplinary team to a variety of complex patients. The nurse will manage care and implement treatment plans in collaboration with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare team members. The position emphasizes continuous learning, seeking and providing feedback for improved clinical practice, and taking on a beginning leadership role with mentorship. The job description is guided by the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements, and the UVA Nursing Professional Practice Model. Key areas of focus include Relationship Based Care (for self, colleagues, and patients/families), Expert Caring (clinical assessment, planning, prioritizing, coordinating, and implementing care), Empowered Leaders (participation in shared governance), Lifelong Learners (professional development, supporting onboarding, and precepting), Quality Achievement (documentation, outcomes data, performance improvement, standard work), and Innovation (application of technologies, evidence-based practice, and nursing research). Additional duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.
  • 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.

Responsibilities
