About The Position

This is a full-time, night shift position for a Registered Nurse in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at Texas Health Fort Worth. The CVICU is a 25-bed unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2, located within an 833-bed Level I Trauma Center and a MAGNET facility. The unit is a Comprehensive Cardiac Center focusing on the care of cardiovascular surgical patients, including those undergoing peripheral vascular surgeries and complex open heart surgeries. The department is known for its high-performing staff with excellent critical thinking skills, self-scheduling for work-life balance, and opportunities for educational and career growth. It also features a robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and an engaged leadership team. This is a high acuity, high volume department.

Requirements

Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing required.
CLIAFE – Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required.
Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire.
BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly.
ACLS – within 90 days of hire required.
CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire.
1-year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required.
Demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
Maintain a positive, customer-focused attitude toward patients.
Possess a strong work ethic and always display a high level of professionalism.
Have basic computer skills using medical management application systems.

Nice To Haves

BSN preferred.
Current ICU experience preferred - will consider PCU and Tele experience.

Responsibilities

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process: assesses the patient, plans the care of the patient, intervenes as appropriate, evaluates the effectiveness of interventions.
Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information.
Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
Delivery of high quality of patient care through nursing education, nursing research and innovations in nursing practice.
