About The Position

Provides professional and skilled nursing care to patients using the “patient centered care” model of SMHCS (policy 126.054) in accordance with the ANA and AACN’s Standards of Professional Practice. We are a 62 bed unit with 3 areas of specialties that you can work in. Trauma ICU: Patient Population: patients with a primary traumatic diagnosis requiring complex nursing assessment skills and care including but not limited to: Any trauma related fractures or orthopedic abnormalities requiring surgical intervention or traction application, splinting, splinting, casts, or other skeletal immobilization. Acute Traumatic Brain Injuries with potential for ventriculostomies. Any trauma related injuries requiring surgery. CRRT. Managing patients on ventilators/Bipap. Titration of vasoactive medications (inotropes, vasopressors, vasodilators). Initiation and titrating sedation/analgesic drips.

Requirements

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) through American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support); required for experienced RN, has to be completed by end of orientation for the novice Critical Care RN
  • Successful completion of Basic Arrhythmia test within 90 days of date of hire
  • BSN requirement within 5 years of date of hire for the ASN candidate
  • Required basic working knowledge of commonly used computer applications including but not limited to Microsoft
  • FL RN: FL Registered Nurse License
  • BLS: Basic Life Support/CPR

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification upon hire.
  • Prefer certification in nursing specialty area.
  • BSN: Bachelor of Science Nursing

Responsibilities

  • Manage patients with trauma related fractures or orthopedic abnormalities requiring surgical intervention or traction application, splinting, casts, or other skeletal immobilization.
  • Care for patients with Acute Traumatic Brain Injuries with potential for ventriculostomies.
  • Provide care for patients with any trauma related injuries requiring surgery.
  • Perform CRRT.
  • Manage patients on ventilators/Bipap.
  • Titrate vasoactive medications (inotropes, vasopressors, vasodilators).
  • Initiate and titrate sedation/analgesic drips.
