Hiring Registered Nurse (RN) Critical Care - CVICU
About The Position
Provides professional and skilled nursing care to patients using the “patient centered care” model of SMHCS (policy 126.054) in accordance with the ANA and AACN’s Standards of Professional Practice. We are a 62 bed unit with 3 areas of specialties that you can work in. CVICU: Patient Population: patients with a primary diagnosis of advanced cardiovascular disease requiring complex nursing assessment skills and care including but not limited to: Post Open Heart Surgical patient recovery, Cardiac Arrest, Left Ventricular Assist Device Care: Impella & IABP, ECMO (extra corporeal membrane oxygenation), Advanced Hemodynamic Monitoring, Titration of vasoactive medications (inotropes, vasopressors, vasodilators). Opportunities for Novice and Experienced Nurses: Individualized orientation, Nurse Residency for all new graduates with the implementation of ECCO (essentials of critical care orientation), Tuition Reimbursement, Opportunities for paid certification and incentivized pay including but not limited to CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse), TCAR, Critical Care Internship with knowledge base lecture series provided in the department. No new grads being hired for CVICU at this time.
Requirements
- BLS (Basic Life Support) through American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support); required for experienced RN, has to be completed by end of orientation for the novice Critical Care RN
- Successful completion of Basic Arrhythmia test within 90 days of date of hire
- BSN requirement within 5 years of date of hire for the ASN candidate
- Required basic working knowledge of commonly used computer applications including but not limited to Microsoft
- FL RN: FL Registered Nurse License
- BLS: Basic Life Support/CPR
Nice To Haves
- Prefer National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification upon hire.
- Prefer certification in nursing specialty area.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional and skilled nursing care to patients using the “patient centered care” model.
- Assess and care for patients with advanced cardiovascular disease.
- Manage post open heart surgical patient recovery.
- Provide care for patients experiencing cardiac arrest.
- Administer Left Ventricular Assist Device Care (Impella & IABP).
- Provide ECMO (extra corporeal membrane oxygenation) care.
- Perform advanced hemodynamic monitoring.
- Titrate vasoactive medications (inotropes, vasopressors, vasodilators).
