About The Position

This is a dual role combining the responsibilities of a Core Flex II Registered Nurse and an Administrative Supervisor. The Core Flex II Registered Nurse provides expert, engaged nursing care across a defined market or region within OSF HealthCare, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. This role requires advanced clinical competence, informal leadership, and the ability to work flexibly across various units and locations. The Administrative Supervisor assists in overseeing team members providing patient and nursing care services, ensuring safe, high-quality patient care, enhancing the patient/family experience, and contributing to organizational objectives. This role involves determining work priorities, ensuring appropriate staffing with Charge Nurses and Department Leads, and serving as a resource for operational and patient care problem-solving.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in nursing (for Core Flex RN).
  • 1 year of nursing experience in an acute healthcare setting within the specialty hired (for Core Flex RN).
  • Registered Nurse License in the state of Illinois.
  • Basic Life Support certification (BLS) through the American Heart Association.
  • Advanced Care Life Support certification (ACLS) through the American Heart Association (required for applicable specialties).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through the American Heart Association (required for applicable specialties).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain flexibility in work and schedule.
  • Strong clinical judgment and autonomous decision-making ability.
  • Advanced assessment, analytical, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage complex patient populations across the care continuum.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft applications.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • BSN (for Administrative Supervisor).
  • 3 years of experience in an acute care setting (for Administrative Supervisor).
  • RN-Registered Nurse Professional national leadership certification or as determined by the operating unit CNO within one year after hire (for Administrative Supervisor).
  • ACLS by American Heart Association (for Administrative Supervisor).
  • Other certifications as required per operating unit e.g. PALS, TNCC, NRP, and NIMS (for Administrative Supervisor).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) or completion within two years of hire (for Core Flex RN).
  • 2 years of nursing experience in an acute healthcare setting within the specialty hired (for Core Flex RN).
  • Participation in Clinical Ladder strongly encouraged (for Core Flex RN).
  • Demonstrates proven leadership skills (for Administrative Supervisor).
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively lead and direct the work of other employees in order to effectively interact with patients, families, physicians (for Administrative Supervisor).
  • Demonstrates knowledge of all emergency procedures including EMR downtime, disaster plan, etc. (for Administrative Supervisor).
  • Demonstrates knowledge of policy and procedures and the ability to access them as needed (for Administrative Supervisor).
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the location of educational/supportive resources and the ability to locate appropriate resources (for Administrative Supervisor).

Responsibilities

  • Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for patients using the nursing process.
  • Providing safe, compassionate, and high-quality care to patients across the care continuum in diverse environments.
  • Demonstrating flexibility and adaptability by working across various units and locations to meet patient and organizational needs.
  • Assisting in overseeing the work of team members engaged in providing direct and indirect patient/nursing care services on assigned shifts.
  • Ensuring safe, high-quality patient care and enhancing the patient/family experience.
  • Providing effective leadership contributing to the delivery of the organization's objectives.
  • Determining work priorities.
  • Working with Charge Nurses and Department Leads to ensure appropriate staffing.
  • Serving as a resource person for all facility Team Members.
  • Resolving operational and patient care problems.
