About The Position

Frye Regional Medical Center, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN), Coordinator Electrophysiology (EP). The role involves providing exceptional care in a team-oriented environment for cardiac procedures, driven by a commitment to making communities healthier. The nurse will carry out appropriate plans of care based on assessment and clinical recommendations, perform medication administration safely, and monitor patients receiving sedation. Responsibilities include accurate documentation using Cerner, McKesson, or "Change" systems, continuous evaluation of patient conditions, independent decision-making, and patient education tailored to individual needs. With training, the EP RN will monitor and handle pacing protocols with an EP physician on Abbott Workmate and manage arterial and venous sheath sites. The EP Lab nurse will work closely in a sterile environment with an interdisciplinary team to perform procedures such as Permanent Pacemaker Implantation, BivICD, BiV pacemakers, Micra pacemaker, Ablations (Atrial fibrillation/Flutter, Cryo-Ablations, SVT, Ventricular tachycardia), and Loop Recorder Watchmen Implantation. Requirements

  • Current state RN license
  • Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire
  • ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors degree preferred
  • One year of experience preferred
  • 1-3 years preferred with recent critical care or EP / CL experience
  • Experience with Cerner documentation hospital-wide and McKesson or “Change” documentation within the procedural area preferred

Responsibilities

  • Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs
  • Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions
  • Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient
  • Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record
  • Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient
  • Performs timely and accurate QI assessments
  • Carry out an appropriate plan of care based off assessment, clinical recommendations and requirements in a team-oriented environment for cardiac procedures
  • Perform medication administration in the safe and compliant manner with standards of nursing practice and monitoring the patient who has received sedation within the procedural care area
  • Perform correct documentation in compliance with hospital and nursing standards on appropriate charting systems (Cerner, McKesson or “Change” documentation)
  • Continuously evaluate patient condition and work and make decisions independently and provide education appropriately based off patient circumstances, condition, cultural and spiritual needs
  • Monitor, identify and appropriately handle pacing protocols with assistance from EP physician on Abbott Workmate (with training)
  • Remove and manage site from arterial and venous sheaths (with training)
  • Work closely in a sterile environment with the interdisciplinary team to perform procedures including Permanent Pacemaker Implantation, BivICD, BiV pacemakers and Micra pacemaker, Ablations (Atrial fibrillation/Flutter and Cryo-Ablations, SVT, Ventricular tachycardia), and Loop Recorder Watchmen Implantation
