About The Position

Join our team at VCU Health as we launch our brand new Comprehensive Liver Care Unit - ICU! This 15-bed ICU specializes in catering specifically to the Liver Transplant and Transplant Hepatology populations with critical care needs. Nurses will enjoy 1:1 and 1:2 nurse to patient ratios tailored to the complexity of patient assignments and benefit from round-the-clock in-person provider coverage on the unit. Our Liver Transplant program is thriving, with volumes increasing year after year, completing an impressive 205 liver transplants in 2023. Requirements

  • Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible or compact state (for Clin I, Clin II, Clin III)
  • AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent (for Clin I, Clin II, Clin III for continued employment)
  • 12 to 24 months RN experience (for Clin II)
  • 3 years of clinical experience (for Clin III)
  • Diploma or Associates Degree from a professional nursing program recognized and/or approved by the corresponding state’s Board of Nursing
  • All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an approved RN to BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within five years of their start date unless grandfathered under previous requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as an LPN, nursing assistant or care partner in either an acute care setting or as applicable to area of practice (for Clin I)
  • Academic Health Care Experience (for Clin II, Clin III)
  • Experience with similar patient population in either an acute care setting or as applicable to area of practice (for Clin II, Clin III)
  • Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (or higher) from an accredited program (for Clin I, Clin II, Clin III)
  • Certification in specialty area (for Clin III)
