The Surgical & Trauma Intensive Care Unit (STIC) is a 20-bed ICU dedicated to the care of critically ill patients, with a specialized focus on traumatic injuries and close monitoring during the peri-operative phase. This is a collaborative environment supported by Trauma Surgeons & Consultants, Surgical Residents, Advanced Practice RNs, Nurses, and Nursing Assistants. The care team works diligently to support patient recovery through comprehensive interventions including ventilator management, serial assessments, intravenous infusions/medications, wound care, education, and rehabilitative therapies. Advocate Christ Medical Center is a part of Advocate Health Care, a leading health care network. This nonprofit, 788-bed teaching institution, with over 1,500 affiliated physicians, serves as a major referral hospital in the Midwest for various specialties. The hospital handles over 105,000 emergency visits annually and operates one of Illinois' busiest Level I trauma centers.
