About The Position

This is a full-time, days position for a Registered Nurse (RN) serving as a Program Coordinator for the Chest Pain/Stroke Program at Texas Health Southwest, a MAGNET Hospital and Level III Trauma Center. The role involves managing data, establishing quality improvement programs, assisting in setting standards of care, and coordinating educational opportunities related to stroke and chest pain services. The coordinator will ensure compliance with surveying agency standards and collaborate with various teams, including medical staff, administrators, and EMS agencies, to optimize patient care and program outcomes.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Nursing Required
RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required
3 Years Med/Surg, Emergency or Critical Care Required
Effective leadership and strong interpersonal skills
Verbal and written skills in English
Advanced knowledge of current professional and health care issues and nursing practice
Must have general computer skills and a working knowledge of electronic heath records, MS Office, Outlook and the Internet.

Master's Degree Nursing Preferred
SCRN - Stroke Certified Registered Nurse or other nursing professional certification Upon Hire Preferred
3 Years Emergency or Critical Care Preferred

Responsibilities

Analyzes data, distributes reports to appropriate team members and administrators
Manage data collection
Establishes and maintains a multi-disciplinary CQI program to include morbidity/mortality review
Assists in establishing standards of care, policies, and objectives of stroke/chest pain services
Establishes and Maintains Appropriate Special Programs Designation
Fulfills the standards for chest pain and stroke care as required by the appropriate surveying agencies, (i.e., Texas DSHS and Joint Commission)
Collaborates with chart abstraction team to ensure accuracy and timely reporting
Coordinates and facilitates provision of educational opportunities for staff, physicians, patients, external providers of care, and the community
Identifies relevant areas, initiates projects and participates on performance improvement teams
Represents department in a positive manner to hospital/system/community
Maintains current and active participation in professional organizations
Works effectively and productively with all members of the patient care team as well as family members/significant others and pre-hospitalization stakeholders
Collaborates with medical and administrative leaders to ensure positive relationships with local EMS agencies
Oversees and facilitates care and follow-up of patients
