About The Position

Provides breast-feeding education and consultation to prospective and actual patients of the Baptist Health System in the inpatient and outpatient environment. Provides staff development guidance to assist staff providing assistance to breast-feeding mothers in hospital environment. Monitors, evaluates and revises breast feeding patient education program to ensure compliance with established national standards for such education. Mentors and evaluates instructors providing breast-feeding education. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
• 2 years clinical nursing practice.
• Demonstrated competency in area of expertise.
• Possession of current Texas State License for Registered Nurse
• Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelors Degree
• 2 years adults teaching.
• Experience in providing lactation consulting.
• Certificate in lactation consulting through a national certifying organization required within one year of employment.
