About The Position

North Alabama Medical Center's Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) is a high-acuity, fast-paced environment dedicated to providing exceptional care for critically ill cardiac and vascular patients. The unit specializes in the management of complex cardiovascular conditions, including post-operative open-heart surgery patients, advanced heart failure cases, and patients requiring hemodynamic monitoring and life-sustaining therapies. CVICU nurses work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care. This dynamic unit offers opportunities to develop advanced critical care skills, utilize cutting-edge technology, and make a meaningful impact on patient outcomes while supporting patients and families through some of their most challenging healthcare experiences.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Nursing
  • Current Alabama RN license (or eligible for licensure).
  • BLS required

Responsibilities

  • Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments.
  • Documents patient care and monitors patient condition, communicating with care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Coordinates patient care across disciplines, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and support needs.
  • Provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, and circumstances.
  • Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
  • Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
