About The Position

This position is in the Cardiac Transition Unit (CTU), which serves as the pre and post-procedure unit for the Cardiac Catheterization Lab and Electrophysiology (EP) Lab. The CTU provides care for adult and pediatric outpatients and inpatients with various cardiovascular conditions, including acquired cardiovascular disease, congenital heart disease, peripheral vascular disease, heart transplant, or rhythm disturbances, who are undergoing cardiology procedures. Patients from Interventional Radiology who meet CTU criteria are also included in the overnight population. The unit operates twenty-four hours from 06:30 on Monday until Saturday morning, closing once all patients are discharged or admitted to an inpatient nursing unit. The unit is closed for the remainder of Saturday and Sunday. The role requires a capable clinician focused on expanding knowledge and skills, consistently providing effective direct care as part of an interdisciplinary team to complex patients. The nurse will manage care and implement treatment plans with a refined skill level, collaborating with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare team members. The position involves seeking and providing feedback for improved clinical practice and assuming a beginning leadership role with mentorship. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.
  • 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
