About The Position

This is a full-time Registered Nurse position in the Cardiac Telemetry unit at Texas Health Southwest. The 28-bed Telemetry Department provides telemetry and Med/Surg level of care for adult to geriatric patients with general medical/surgical, endocrine, and GI/renal conditions. The unit has a 5:1 patient to nurse ratio and is a MAGNET facility and Level III Trauma Center. The role involves delivering care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process, incorporating age-specific safety/infection control measures, initiating action to meet patient information needs, and maintaining continuity of patient care. The position offers self-scheduling for work/life balance.

Requirements

Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required
Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
ACLS – within 90 days of hire required
CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire required
1-year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required
High degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
Understanding of basic human needs.
Recognition and understanding of patient’s affiliations.

Nice To Haves

BSN preferred
Current Telemetry experience preferred - will consider Med/Surg experience

Responsibilities

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process: assesses the patient, plans the care of the patient, intervenes as appropriate, evaluates the effectiveness of interventions.
Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information.
Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
Delivery of high quality of patient care through nursing education, nursing research and innovations in nursing practice.
