About The Position

St. Vincent’s Medical Center, a twice-designated Magnet hospital and part of Hartford HealthCare, is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for its Cardiac Laboratory Adult unit. This is a per diem position. St. Vincent's is a 473-bed teaching hospital, a Level 2 Trauma Center, and is committed to providing compassionate, personalized care. As part of Hartford HealthCare, it offers advanced surgical procedures and expanded access to care within a system of 7 acute care hospitals and a comprehensive Behavioral Health Network. The ideal candidate will have a cardiac background with extensive orientation and telemetry knowledge, specifically with Cath Lab experience, and be able to work a per diem schedule. The role involves providing direct nursing care, implementing and monitoring patient care plans, coordinating care across disciplines, and assessing discharge planning needs. The nurse will identify and address physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and age-related needs, delegate care appropriately, and participate in interdisciplinary rounds. The position adheres to ANA Scope and Standards of Nursing Practice, ANA Code of Ethics, and ANA Social Policy Statement.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school
  • Current Connecticut RN license
  • BLS certification by the American Heart Association
  • Associate degree required
  • Cardiovascular nursing experience required
  • Must commit to passing orientation process full-time until sign off.
  • RNs with a Cath Lab background needed

Responsibilities

  • Implements and monitors patient care plans.
  • Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
  • Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
  • Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to assess patients and to identify physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual and age-related needs in order to provide individualized care to the patient.
  • Delegates aspects of care to other nursing personnel consistent with their level of education and expertise in order to meet patients' needs and to maximize staff performance.
  • Participates in daily interdisciplinary patient rounds.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of patients' condition and is able to provide appropriate input to meet desired outcomes for the appropriate patient population.
  • Reflects ANA Scope and Standards of Nursing Practice (2015), ANA Code of Ethics (2015), and ANA Social Policy Statement (2015).
  • Develops, implements and revises individualized plans of care.
  • Participates in activities for professional growth and development outside of patient care.
  • Other Duties as assigned.
