Registered Nurse (RN) Cardiac ICU
About The Position
The Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is seeking an experienced ICU RN to join their team. This is a full-time position with 3 x 12-hour shifts (Day/Night rotation). The CICU is a fast-paced cardiac critical care environment that emphasizes teamwork, excellent patient care, and professional growth. The nursing team collaborates closely with medical colleagues, including Cardiac Intensivists, Medical Intensivists, Interventionalists, Cardiologists, Cardiology Fellows, and Advanced Practice Providers. The specialty population includes management of unstable STEMI, post PCI/PTCA recovery, complex cardiac arrest and cardiogenic shock, complex medical and mechanical circulatory support for transplant patients, complex advanced heart failure (including LVAD), complex unstable arrhythmia management, and advanced pulmonary hypertension therapies.
Requirements
- 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse in a critical care setting or completion of a critical care fellowship.
- BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an Associate's Degree (ADN), must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
- BLS for healthcare provider certification from the AHA is required.
- ACLS (must obtain within 6 months of hire).
- RN licensed, or eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia as an RN.
Nice To Haves
- 2+ years ICU RN experience.
- CCRN certification
- Participation in unit-based or hospital committees.
Responsibilities
- Serve as STEMI responder for the campus.
- Manage unstable STEMI and post PCI/PTCA recovery.
- Manage complex cardiac arrest and cardiogenic shock, including therapeutic hypothermia, CRRT, VV and VA ECMO, Impella, and IABP therapies.
- Manage complex medical and mechanical circulatory support for pre-heart and pre-lung transplant patient populations.
- Manage complex advanced heart failure, including LVAD.
- Manage complex unstable arrhythmia, including care of complicated laser-assisted lead removal for PPM/AICD replacement and transvenous pacemakers.
- Manage advanced pulmonary hypertension therapies, including Intravenous Prostacyclin therapy.
