About The Position

This position delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process. Assesses the patient, plans the care of the patient, intervenes as appropriate and evaluates the effectiveness of interventions. Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care. Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information. Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers. The Registered Nurse (RN II) in the Cardiac Cath Lab at Texas Health Harris Methodist Fort Worth will bring their passion to Texas Health so we are Better + Together. The Cath Lab department has 6 Suites/Treatment rooms averaging 20 cases per day. We are open 24/7 Monday through Friday and have after hour, holidays, and weekend on-call requirements (with 30 min distance response time). This is a MAGNET facility, Level I Trauma Center, and Primary Heart Attack Center (PHAC). The department prides itself in high performing staff with excellent critical thinking skills, and offers opportunities for educational and career growth. There is a Robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and engaged leadership team in this high volume department.

Requirements

  • Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required
  • One (1) year experience as a clinical Registered Nurse or completion of an RN Residency program required
  • RN- Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire required
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support (prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly) required
  • A high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
  • RN must practice within the regulations of the Texas Nurse Practice Act, serve as a role model, intra/interdisciplinary collaborator and coordinator for quality patient care
  • The professional nurse exhibits understanding of basic human needs and demonstrates recognition and understanding of patient’s affiliations

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred
  • Current Cath Lab/EP Lab experience strongly preferred
  • ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support within ninety (90) days required
