About The Position

Fairview is looking for a Registered Nurse on the Birthplace Unit at our Lakes Medical Center in Wyoming, MN. This role is CASUAL with a variable schedule. Fairview Lakes Medical Center offers top quality primary and specialty care to community residents and has been awarded a 4-star quality rating by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The Birthplace unit is dynamic and collaborative, training RNs in Labor & Delivery, Post-Partum, OR circulator and PACU (c-section care), pediatrics, and nursery. Cross-training to med/surg may be required at leader discretion. All RNs are trained in lactation support, and some are Certified Lactation Consultants. Free parking is available for employees.

Requirements

  • 2 years of RN Labor & Delivery experience
  • MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
  • NRP certification

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing
  • Med/Surg experience

Responsibilities

  • The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s).
  • The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedure, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act.
  • The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.
  • Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes.
  • Involves the patient, family and other health team members in gathering data.
  • Uses an ongoing, systematic process to gather relevant information (biological, psychological, spiritual and social aspects) from patient and family.
  • Analyzes data and information to identify potential risks, prioritize needs and determine priority problems.
  • Identifies & documents outcomes that are age appropriate, culturally appropriate, realistic and attainable.
  • Develops an individualized nursing plan of care.
  • Prioritizes & implements interventions based on patient acuity, available resources, and patient/family preferences and needs.
  • Collaborates, consults, or makes referrals if unable to perform safely and independently.
  • Anticipates, recognizes and responds to emergent situations.
  • Promotes a culture of evidence-based practice (EBP) & presents EBP findings to peers.
  • Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.
