About The Position

Fairview is looking for a Registered Nurse on the Birthplace Unit at our Lakes Medical Center in Wyoming, MN. This role is a .75 FTE (60 hours every 2 weeks) 12-hour night shifts, with every third weekend rotation. Variable schedule. Fairview Lakes Medical Center offers top quality primary and specialty care to community residents. The 4-star rating places Fairview Lakes in the top 30 percent of hospitals in the country. The Birthplace unit is dynamic and collaborative. All RNs within the unit are trained to Labor & Delivery, Post-Partum, OR circulator and PACU (c-section care), pediatrics, and nursery. (Cross training to med/surg may be required at leader discretion). All RNs are trained in lactation support, some of the RNs on the unit are Certified Lactation Consultants. Our location also has free parking for employees! The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedure, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.

Requirements

  • MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
  • 1 year of RN Labor & Delivery experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing
  • Med/Surg experience

Responsibilities

  • The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s).
  • The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policies, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act.
  • The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.
  • Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes.
  • Involves the patient, family and other health team members in gathering data.
  • Uses an ongoing, systematic process to gather relevant information (biological, psychological, spiritual and social aspects) from patient and family.
  • Analyzes data and information to identify potential risks, prioritize needs and determine priority problems.
  • Identifies & documents outcomes that are age appropriate, culturally appropriate, realistic and attainable.
  • Develops an individualized nursing plan of care.
  • Prioritizes & implements interventions based on patient acuity, available resources, and patient/family preferences and needs.
  • Collaborates, consults, or makes referrals if unable to perform safely and independently.
  • Anticipates, recognizes and responds to emergent situations.
  • Promotes a culture of evidence-based practice (EBP) & presents EBP findings to peers
  • Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.
