About The Position

The RN apprenticeship is a registered apprenticeship sponsored by the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL) Nursing Education, with Singing River Health System serving as the employer. The apprentice attends classes at the partnering nursing program campus according to the approved program schedule and completes clinical training under an approved apprenticeship work process. The schedule includes two class days—one at the Healthcare Academy and one at MGCCC—and clinical days consisting of 12-hour shifts, which may be days (7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.) or nights (7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.). The Registered Nurse apprentice provides nursing care under the direction and supervision of an RN preceptor, advanced practice registered nurse (APRN), or licensed physician, consistent with the apprentice’s training progression. Care must comply with Singing River Health System policies and procedures and applicable accreditation and governing guidance. The apprentice must maintain good academic and attendance standing in the program. Coursework attendance at the partnering nursing program campus is required, and poor attendance or performance may affect apprenticeship or health-system status. Travel throughout the SRHS service area, including to the partnering campus, is required, and the employee provides their own transportation.
