About The Position

The RN Special Procedures Nurse supports Interventional Radiology – Angiography, assisting a Physician or Physician Assistant, in over 60 different procedures. This is a Full-Time benefited position, scheduled for 40 hours per week (1.0 FTE). The role is a day shift position with no weekends or holidays. The unit operates weekdays from 6:30 am-5:30 pm, with shifts being a mix of 8 and 10-hour shifts. Assignments provide a 1:1 patient to nurse ratio. Full-time positions (1.0 FTE positions) are scheduled for four, ten-hour shifts. Call coverage is mandatory, with an average call requirement of 3 weeknight shifts per month and weekend coverage once every 7th weekend, divided between Neuro intervention and Angiography. The callback requirement for Neuro Intervention is 40 minutes and for Angiography is 60 minutes.

Requirements

• Current Michigan Nursing License
• Graduation from accredited nursing program
• BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required.

• BSN degree (Effective January 1, 2013, all new hires must have a BSN degree or must agree in writing to obtain their BSN within five (5) years from date of hire.)
• Those with ICU (Intensive Care Unit) or ER (Emergency Room) are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and possibly sedate the patient.
• Chart the entire case.
• Educate the patient on discharge instructions.
• Ensure the patient has been prepped appropriately for their procedure by assessing patient’s allergies, medications, lab values and giving pre procedure medications as appropriate such as antibiotics.
• Rotate through all radiology modalities including Angiography, Neuro Intervention, MRI, CT, X-ray and Ultrasound.
