About The Position

Provide high-impact, specialized care to patients navigating some of the most complex neurologic conditions in an environment built on clinical excellence, teamwork, and continuous growth. On 6 West, every shift is an opportunity to directly influence recovery trajectories while supporting patients and families through critical moments in care. This role places you in a 30-bed adult acute care Neuroscience unit where clinical skill, attention to detail, and collaboration come together to deliver meaningful outcomes. It is an ideal setting for nurses who are drawn to neurologic care and want to build deep expertise in a supportive, team-driven environment. As an RN on 6 West, you will provide comprehensive, hands-on nursing care to a diverse and complex neuroscience patient population. The pace is steady and clinically engaging, requiring strong assessment skills, the ability to prioritize effectively, and a commitment to patient-centered care. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team across neurology, stroke, neurosurgery, and neuro-trauma, contributing to a coordinated approach that supports patients from diagnosis through recovery. On a typical shift, you will: Perform detailed patient assessments, interventions, education, and care coordination for patients on an acute neuroscience floor Care for patients with a wide range of neurologic conditions including brain tumors, hydrocephalus, stroke, multiple sclerosis, seizures, traumatic brain injury (TBI), headaches, and other neurological disorders Collaborate with neurology, stroke, neurosurgery, and neuro-trauma teams to implement and adjust individualized care plans Monitor for changes in neurologic status and respond with timely clinical interventions and escalation when needed Support patients and families through both recovery and end-of-life care, delivering compassionate, patient-centered communication Contribute to a unit culture focused on teamwork, shared accountability, and clinical excellence This is a role that blends clinical complexity with human connection, offering the chance to care for patients across a broad spectrum of neurologic conditions while working in a highly collaborative setting.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.
  • 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed patient assessments, interventions, education, and care coordination for patients on an acute neuroscience floor
