Our 28-bed Medical Surgical unit cares for a diverse patient population, with a strong focus on geriatric patients and those requiring isolation precautions. With negative-pressure capabilities and a variety of patient needs, no two days are exactly the same. Requirements

  • Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana and as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care
  • Prioritize and coordinate care for assigned patients
  • Monitor patient conditions and communicate changes to the appropriate members of the care team
  • Safely perform nursing procedures and follow established standards of care
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, social workers, and other interdisciplinary team members
  • Delegate and supervise patient care activities appropriately
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families
  • Deliver effective handoffs to promote continuity of care
  • Maintain a safe environment while following infection prevention, patient safety, HIPAA, and regulatory requirements
  • Contribute to quality improvement and patient satisfaction initiatives
  • Support your teammates and contribute to a positive, collaborative work environment
  • Continue developing your nursing knowledge and skills
