About The Position

The trauma acute care unit provides specialized nursing care to patients recovering from traumatic injuries and acute surgical conditions. As part of the region's only Level I Trauma Center, our team collaborates closely with the Surgical Trauma Service and multidisciplinary care teams to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care throughout the recovery journey. Patients on this unit may include individuals recovering from a wide range of blunt and penetrating traumatic injuries, including orthopedic, thoracic, abdominal, and other trauma-related conditions requiring acute inpatient care. Nurses on this unit develop strong assessment, prioritization, and critical thinking skills while caring for a diverse patient population in a fast-paced environment. This unit offers new graduate nurses the opportunity to build a strong clinical foundation while working alongside experienced trauma professionals dedicated to teamwork, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • 6 months of RN experience

Responsibilities

  • As a skilled and compassionate RN, you will play a pivotal role in providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Using evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and skills communication while leading efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum.
